CULTURAL DIVERSITY:  Why do foreigners risk their lives to come to America?
INCLUDES:    Powerpoint presentation contrasting the situation of Haiti (post-earthquake) and Costa Rica (vacation haven)
Appropriate for: 4^th – 8^th grades

Having been to both Haiti and Costa Rica, Paul will show your students what it is like in both countries. The presentation will cover:

• HISTORY: Including the types of peoples and how the people arrived there
• GEOGRAPHY: Maps of the country, in relation to where it stands on the globe
• LANGUAGE ARTS: They speak Spanish there, and it would be good for students to learn how to communicate in a country with a different language.
• ECONOMICS: How their currency and the standard of living differs from ours
• SCIENCE: Costa Rica, despite consisting of only .03% of the world's landmass, has 5% of the world's species and fauna.
